Port Townsend WA, 2/1/2012 -- Kim & Joseph's Remarkable Agency (KJRA) today announced release of a new e-book written to help business owners and managers understand, and take advantage of, a marketing approach known as "content marketing." Joseph Riden, one of the Co-Founders of KJRA, wrote the e-book. Kim Jons, also from Port Townsend, is the Agency's other Co-Founder. Mr. Riden commented on the event: "Kim and I are delighted to make this new work available, for free, to anyone who wants to read up on a marketing trend that's rapidly being adopted by businesses worldwide. Content marketing gives a business significant advantages in marketing effectiveness, at a lower cost than traditional methods, when so planned. This is a substantial treatment of content marketing -- all you need to know to get started and move ahead. It comprises 11 chapters, over 33,000 words on 70-plus pages, with images and tables. It's filled with tools, procedures, and copious examples." Riden defined content marketing as "originating and curating (collecting) information that provides intrinsic value as a way of promoting your business or organization to help you meet your business goals. Examples range from a simple recipe on a food package to an extensive white paper that helps a business capture more revenue." He explained further, "Business decision makers and consumers have simply shut off attention to the tsunami of promotional messaging prevalent in traditional media channels. Now the best way to engage customers is to focus on their priorities. Give them online or print content that delivers relevant value -- any form of content that helps them get ahead in life or business, solve problems, or realize their aspirations. Of course, your content should also serve your organization's goals." Riden and Jons cite the Agency's new e-book itself as an example of content marketing. Jons stated, "It's the first concise handbook that guides the reader to initiate content marketing on an entry level. So it's highly relevant to any business or organization leader because it helps them grasp the concepts and enact a working system on a scale they can match to their available budget. With the right content, any business can market well with the budget they have." KJRA's e-book is titled Content Marketing System: Buy or Build Your Own. It's available for download online when a visitor to their web site or blog subscribes to their Agency's content stream. We responded by providing a logo update, 2 new persuasive pages with imagery, a change to a horizontal nav system, addition of social media sharing buttons, and contact updates. Nancy loves the result: "The site is looking really good. Thank you so much!" and "This is great -- really like it!"

Back in February, 2011, our new client, Atlas Technologies, was
wondering how they would ever get a second order for their new
invention, an industrial technology system that keeps fresh agricultural
products fresher, longer. Much longer, in fact. This revolutionary
system is designed to extend the fresh handling time for a wide variety
of agricultural products. More time enables fresh product companies to
grow their incomes through improved logistics. It's great news for a
whole industry that stands to gain from this stunning new technology.
Their first sale was a 'bluebird' -- a rose importer knew of previous
attempts to make such a technology work. He heard of their progress and
contacted them. His business would gain so much from a success that he
took a chance and placed an order. A few months later, their system was
proven. Now it's paying for itself. But another sale was not likely
because nobody ever heard of this technology. It didn't even have a
name.
The Principals of Atlas Technologies (Dick and Jed Bothell) called in
KJRA to help set up a marketing plan. A few weeks into that process, it
was clear they needed everything a new division could need -- branding,
identity, marketing collateral, web presence, a sales process, and so
on. This is the year they wanted to debut their new technology but they
had no capability to market it.
Preparation to attend the largest annual floriculture expo in the US
kicked into gear. KJRA assisted with brand strategy, company and
product naming, logo creation, and design of identity materials. Once
the direction and deadline were set, the project continued with full
collateral design and production. A brand, a logo, five business cards,
4 brochures, and a 13 web site pages later, they were ready for prime
time -- and not a day too soon. Now they had some definition and a
fluent telling of their story to share. The marketing elements gave
their new division, dubbed Vivafresh, a tangible reality that brought
strong credibility.
Dick and Jed took off for Miami in mid-June loaded with business cards
brochures showing their new URL, and a couple of attention-grabbing
booth posters we pulled together at the last minute. We all held hope
in our hearts. After all, the Vivafresh technology was so stunningly
successful at giving customers multiple new ways to reduce costs and
make more income, it was hard to see how it could not succeed. It
handily solves problems that have nagged the flower industry since
inception. It's proving itself as the most powerful single innovation
Floriculture has ever seen, enabling a true revolution in better supply
chain performance.
The day before the show, I received a disappointed email from Jed in
Miami. They were conducting some pre-show meetings and it wasn't going
so well. The folks from 1-800-Flowers were underwhelmed and failed to
grasp the significance of Vivafresh. Jed sounded worried. I reassured
him and encouraged him to keep marching ahead, which he did. His next
communication was the opposite of that worried email.
Most of the cut flowers and ornamental plants sold in the US market are
grown in Colombia. Some Colombian farm operators attending the Expo
heard about Vivafresh and visited the booth. They understood Vivafresh
technology intuitively. Word spread rapidly at the Expo. Booth
visitation strengthened. Aided by the marketing collateral and the
efforts of the 5-man sales team on the show floor, about ten very hot
leads were obtained.
Dick and Jed returned home feeling happy and fulfilled but worried in a
whole new way. Now they had new concerns. Instead of "selling a
system," now they are dealing with booking multiple orders. Most are
for more than a single unit, at over $300K each. Then there's
manufacturing startup, operational planning and execution, and all the
rest of fulfillment to accomplish. They'll get through it. They are
far more than capable of taking it all in stride.
In the not too distant future, when you buy fresh cut roses, you'll enjoy far better
quality. All because of a great idea, a couple brilliant guys who
don't give up, and a planning and marketing agency that knows how to do
a business launch right and support a startup with everything they need
to leap forward.
If your business needs support with any aspect of planning or marketing,
why not get in touch? We'd be delighted to contribute to the
success of your company.
